The University School of Chemical Technology celebrated its Annual Technical Fest on 20th and 21st March, 2015. With great competitions and enthusiastic participants, the aura of the entire university was all colourful and amazing.

The opening ceremony welcomed the chief guests with beautiful rangolis and the melodious Sarasvati Vandana. The invited chief guests for the function were Prof. K. Karan, USBT; Dr. Nimisha Sharma. DSW, USS; Mr. Vineet Bakshi, Sr. Process Engineer in Strategy and Business Development, Engineers India Ltd; and Mr. Sanjay Tomar, Divisional Officer at Delhi Fire Sevice. The invitees delivered presentations on their fields of interest and enlightened the students.

The opening ceremony and the introductory presentations were followed by the National Quiz Competition. The quiz was based on general awareness of the participants. An overwhelming participation made the event successful. The first round had written MCQs and the top five scorers participated in the further levels. The top three scorers after four rounds were awarded cash prizes.

On the second day, the main event, Technical Paper Presentation, took place. It was based on three themes:
1. Clean and Green Energy
2. Conversion of Solid Wastes to Energy/Products
3. Wastewater Treatment

Winners from each theme were selected and final three teams managed to bag the cash prizes and prize coupons. The research papers presented by scholars were brilliant and amazingly motivating. The Technical Paper Presentation was followed by Business Planning. Young entrepreneurs from all over the nation came forward and presented their startup plans, developing ideas and earned investors for execution. The participants had clear vision and were so involved in their ideas that although only three finalists got to earn investors, most of them managed to win their hearts. The winning team of five, Leaf Wearables, was the combined efforts of IIT Delhi and DTU engineers. This collaboration came out with flying colours and also motivated the young minds.

Lastly, after the successful Business Planning event, treasure hunt was organized. The search area covered the entire campus and hunters had to follow a chain of clues and reach their final destinations. The participants were really energetic and enthusiastic. “Treasure hunt was adorable! I enjoyed a lot. Also, as I used to reach one due point from the other, I was overwhelmed at being able to solve the chemical riddles” quoted the winners.
